Is It Ok to Wear Contact Lenses Everyday, 12 Hours a Day?
i’m nearsigted.
i started wearing glasses when i was thirteen. my grade was 1.75
then 2 years after i decided to contact lenses, but my grade turned 2.75 (every 6 months it changes)
i dont really know why but now i’m 17 and my grade is 3.50
I am scared that i’d be blind in my 30′s!
please help.
but why does it keep on getting worse?

I been wearing contacts for 18 years and there is NOTHING to conclude that they cause any type of sight loss…I wear mine for at least 12 hours a day and my eyes have changed 2 times over the last 18 years….as normal.
i was wearing glasses at 11 and switched to contacts at 13, im 16 now my contacts were 2.75 in one eye 2.00 in other then it changed to 2.50 and 1.75 my last change
theres nothing wrong with wearing them 12 hours a day and ur eyes stop changing around 20 so just wait til then and get lasik and voila! eyes good as new
As you grow so do your eyes. Longer eyes make you more nearsighted. Most people become more near sighted as they grow. Most people’s eyes will stop growing, and their grade (or prescription) will stop changing.
As far as the contacts. 12 hours a day is OK, just make sure you are taking care of them properly when you take them out. The less time they are in your eyes, the better.
No problem with wearing the contact lenses for that long, but make sure that you do have glasses as a back up to give your eyes a break from the contact lenses.
I know how you feel. My prescription is -8.75 with some astigmatism in both eyes now. You will NOT be blind by your 30′s though, don’t worry about that.
