Is It Okay to Wear Regular Colored Contacts When You Have Astigmatism?

I have astigmatism, but I wanted to just try out colored contacts. Is it okay to wear regular colored contacts although i have astigmatism? I know there are toric options available, but that requires going to the optometrist & etc.

I have astigmatism and I have, on occasion, worn them.
As long as you do not wear them for extended periods of time and just for a little while you should be fine.

Of course. Simply speak with a proper ophthalmologist and get the correct prescription. Avoid "mall shops" with cheap exams. The lens likely will not be as soft as well.

You will need to go to see your optometrist to be fitted with regular colored contact lenses too though. They are still classed as medical devices and so you will need a valid prescription for them before anyone can supply you with these lenses. This is a legal requirement. You can wear regular lenses if you wanted to but your vision will not be as clear.

Yes, it’s fine. You will just have to wear your glasses over them to correct the astigmatism. I do that and have for 10 years. You should visit http://bestcolorcontacts.blogspot.com/ and become a fan, that way you can receive a bunch of goodied and stuff. I did and it’s great!

you can wear them but you’ll see blurry.Contacts for people with astigmatism are made differently.
I may be wrong, but I don’t think colored contacts are made for folks like us.
Don’t go to these hole in the wall "eye doctors" for contacts !

You should see an eye doctor if you get *ANY* contacts. It doesn’t matter if has any power or not. You might be able to wear color contacts and then wear glasses with them. It depends on how bad your astigmatism is.

BTW, there is no such thing as having "an astigmatism." It is a medical condition, not an object. We don’t say we have an AIDS, or a Syphilis.

I have an astigmatism and do were colored contacts. You will be fine

If you currently wear toric lenses you should have no trouble wearing plano coloured lenses that have the same diameter and base curve. You should still go to the optician to get them, as they provide a better quality lens.

If you don’t already use contacts, you should get your optician to check the health of your eyes so that you don’t cause any damage.

Get astigmatism colored contacts from your optromitist because colored contacts can really hurt your eyes permantelty due to less oxygen, chemicals, ect. If the contact is not fitted properly to your eye, then this can also leave you with poor vision, or long term/ permanent side effects.
