Ordering First Pair of Contact Lens?

I got an exam for contact lenses last week with the measurements and stuff and he said my eyes were too small, but it wasn’t I ampossible to use contacts, and he wanted just to teach me how to try them on.

He got them in my eyes during the initial exam with just a couple of tries, so I don’t think it’s too small, and I want them for sports. So I think I’m just going to get my prescription and order some online and look up how to put them on, etc.

The thing is, I have astigmatism so I’m not entirely sure what type of lens I should get. Can I just order any type of lens I like that are branded for astigmatism? Also, will my prescription tell me exactly what to buy? I’m just a bit insecure on how exactly to proceed.
oh, whoops. I changed it to health –> optical, not sure why this happened.

I hope you asked in the other section and got your answers. I’m a contact lens wearer, and I’ve never heard of someone being told they couldn’t wear lenses because their eyes were too small ! That sounds like a load of rubbish tbh.
Anyway, to answer your questions, I don’t think it’s up to you at all to choose what contacts you want, it’s usually the optician who decides on which ones might be the best for you. They might give you a choice of dailies (you throw them away every night), or monthlies, or permanent lenses (you have to clean them every night, a lot of hassle and not so great for infections). They might also give you a choice of brands if several brands make the exact type the optician recommends.
In my time the astigmatism ones used to be small thicker ones that didn’t cover the whole iris (I think, I’m short sighted myself), but they probably have evolved a lot since then.
Anyway, you won’t have much of a choice really, apart from what I have mentioned above.
Your lenses will have to fit exactly what the prescription says, you don’t have to worry about this, you just hand in the prescription.

I have been wearing contacts for near to 20 years now, and my advice would be to go for the dailies if they do them for astigmatism. They are much more breathable, it means your eyes are healthier, you don’t get eye infections because you might not have cleaned them properly, and if you lose one or damage one, it doesn’t matter because it would have ended in the bin anyway.
