I’ve been told that contact lens prescription usually need to be 0.5 – 1 lower in strength?

So I am dying my hair from light brown to blonde. I model and for some portfolio pictures I would like another eye color. Don’t get me wrong, I love my brown eyes, but I want to mix it up in different pictures. What would be the best color to go with when buying colored contacts.

My doctor prescribed me Proclear Toric monthly contact lenses. I only wear my contacts three days a month on average, 8 hours per day for a total per month of 25 hours. Does a monthly contact lens mean that it’s supposed to be good for 8 hours per day for 30 days, for a total of 240 hours of wear? If that’s the case, then each of my lenses is good for 10 months and my box with 6 lenses will last me for 5 years. If all of this is correct, then why on earth would I want to buy 5 years worth of contact lenses when my prescription changes every year? Why don’t they just sell single lenses? Does a monthly lens mean 240 hours of wear? Why don’t they just tell people that?
Anyone else out there who knows anything about contact lenses?

okay so i have really big eyes, and when i wear colored contacts the color goes over my pupil a little because the contact doesn’t stay right in the middle of my eye… i guess because of the way it’s shaped ? and i can’t see out of them because of it.

so would a normal eye doctor be able to order contacts that have a different base curve or something… or would i have to get them like specially made to be able to wear colored contacts?

I was fitted for contact lenses for the first tI ame on Dec. 15. My Rx for glasses is: Left eye, -4.75; Right eye, -4.50. The contacts were -4.50 for both eyes. At my followup appt., I told the doc that I had difficulty reading (esp. on the computer), and that my right eye was where the difficulty was coming from. So he bumped that eye up to -4.75. I’m still having difficulty with reading, so I’m going to try to get an appt. again. My left eye is perfect with the contact, and I want the same for both eyes, obviously. Is this a normal occurance when being fitted for contacts for the first tI ame? I feel like if I go back and try a new Rx, the doc will take them away and tell me to go back to glasses. Has anybody else had these kind of problems? By the way, he said my eyes were healthy with the lenses and I evidentally do not have astigmatism, because no eye dr. I’ve gone to in my life said anything about it.

I only have the eyeglass prescription though which is:
sp +.75 cylinder -.50 and axis 90 (for both eyes)
My optometrist recommended glasses to me, not contacts because contacts with farsightedness and my astigmatisms are only 80% effective (compared to 95% effective with glasses). He also said it the contacts would be complicated to get right.
Anyway, if I were to get contacts someday, would it be pretty expensive due to this complicated Rx? Does anyone know around how much? Our vision insurance is not that great, so it would be an out-of-pocket expense.

However, it lists Clear Comfort as the brand, which I can’t find on any contact lens website (1800contacts, discountcontactlenses, etc.). Does that brand still exist, but perhaps as a different name?
