Question by Tina: What contact lenses are better than acuvue 2?
I’ve been wearing acuvue 2 lenses for over 3 years and now I feel they’re starting to lose my interest. I went three weeks straight with wearing my glasses and I went back to wearing my contacts about a week ago and they’re causing my eyes to feel a little dry sometimes, but nothing major like tearing, blurry vision, etc. Just irritation and some itchiness. I know nothing’s infected, too. What are some better contact lenses out there?

Its a question of finding lenses which suit you and what lenses aer available does depend on your perscription. I’d suggest going back to the opticians and explaining the problem. She/he should be able to give you some trial sets so you can see what best suits you.

Also, I got a free trial certificate from acuvue & freshlook. Does that include color contacts? And one last question, if I do need to see an eye doctor to buy colored contacts, how much does an eye exam cost (estimated)?

I am getting contacts soon (less than a week) and i want to know what i should expect to happen. What exactly happens during a contact lens fitting? Do they check the size of your eye and curve and sutff? How…with what tools? also, what’s going to happen after the exam is over…do i get to try contacts on right after or do i have to revisit so that they can get the rigth size and shape contacts? In other words, would they necessarily have the contacts for my size in their inventory or do they have to order them and i have to go again? also, my optometrist i believe gives a month of contacts, but i think they charge for it…instead could i print out a coupon for a free trial pair from acuvue? can i print out more than one? also, how long does it take before i get used to the contacts? Will i eventually be able to put contacts in really quickly? when? also, how does it feel when you first put contacts on and do you know any tricks for putting them in with ease? best answer gets 10points

I just got contacts and I am on my trial pair, Acuvue Oaysis. My contacts get cloudy and irritated in the middle of the day, around 2 p.m. I will probably change the contact lens brand after discussing this with my eye doctor in 2 weeks for my contact lens checkup, but for now I want a solution or eye drops that will clear up the cloudyness well and reduce irritation. I am currently using Opti-Free Replenish. So what’s a good solution for cloudy, irritated contacts during the day? Or eye drops.

I do need contacts to see. I have hazel eyes. I want blue or gray contact lenses. I’ve been using Freshlook ones; they aren’t natural looking, yes I’d know considering I’ve tried three colors of them. I noticed I can’t get Acuvue because my BC is 8.6. Are there any good brands that have my prescription?

I got contact lenses about 2 years ago and needed to get a new prescription, my health insurance doesn’t cover contact lenses so i took a regular eye exam this time. Now when i try to order my contacts online using my new prescription, i cant cause when i enter the power number(-6.75) they dont have it. They have -6.50 & -7.00, why is that?

also, idk if it makes a difference but im ordering acuvue for astigmtism, same kind i had before.

Hey, so i bought a johnson and johnson acuvue colours cosmetic contact lenses about a month ago and i haven’t used them very often, maybe around 4 times only. I checked the box, i couldn’t find any expiration dates. Its colour is hazel green and i have no vision problems presently. Can i use these contact lenses anymore?

I just got contacts yesterday, im using acuvue oasys. i like them so far, but it does feel a bit awkward in my eye still.

they gave me a sample size solution called complete multi purpose solution….is that one good?

should i keep using that brand after i run out.. also ive just been using the solution to put in the case where the lens goes and then a drop on it when i go to put it on…

but the bottle has some instructions for like rubbing and rinsing it, should i be doing that too?? how often?

i have noticed some lint gets into the solution when its in the case no matter how hard i try to avoid it..and some lint on the lens as well at times…

any tips will be appreciated!!

also for how many uses does the contact last?

and how many hours can you wear them in a day…

what happens if you fall asleep with them??

and lastly can you go to amusement parks and such with them on? like roller coaster rides or motorcycle things like that?

Why is it that Ciba Vision/Focus Dailies only make lenses with Base Curves of 8.6 and Diameters of 13.8

Johnson & Johnson/Acuvue only make lenses of Base Curve 8.5 and Diameter 14.2????

I don’t understand.

Does that then mean that depending on your prescription, you are restricted to which company you can buy lenses from???

Is there ANY way I can sell my unused/unoped contact lens leftovers?! eBay prohibits selling them, but I’ve moved to a higher prescription AND brand… and now I have seven unopened, unused pairs of Acuvue Hazel (-0.50 prescription, 8.3 bc, 14 dia) contacts Iaying around the house I can’t use!! I already know the whole shpeel about "medical devices" and such… but I seriously don’t want these to go to waste after I’ve already paid my insurance for them!! …any suggestions?

My eyes having always been irritated when wearing contacts. I just bought the Acuvue Advanced Astigmatism contacts and they feel a little better than the brand I was using before, but my eyes still get irritated quite easily. Eye drops help a little bit, but not significantly. Most of the time when I’m wearing then my eyes go a little red, feel dry and irritated, and are sensitive to light. Any advice? Are daily contacts better? Is there more effective ways to clean the lens?

I am refilling my contact lenses but the optometrist I went to wouldn’t give me my full prescription unless I paid extra to go with their "trial" contacts and buy only from them.

So I’m looking to switch to another brand like Acuvue but the SAG & BC numbers are different, is there a way to convert?

From old box: Prescription= SAG = 3.75, Dia = 14.1
New Prescription = -5.50/-5.75, Cylinder = -0.75

Acuvue asks for either a 8.3 or 8.7 BC. Is there a way to convert?

I mean, he knew I was there to check if it was ok for me to wear them, he gave me my lens prescription, and it lacks the diameter and base curve, and i don’t know what other measurement, and he just put down i should get "acuvue", but didn’t specify which kind. I tried to buy some, but they told me they wouldn’t sell them to me!
I’m planning on going back to my dr. to ask hI am to fill in the missing info, but it makes me wonder if he knows what he’s doing at all? Is it common for doctors to forget this sort of thing?

I was wondering if there was a big difference between the two comfort and health wise. I can buy the Soflens at a box each and Acuvue at . If there is no difference I would rather buy the cheaper one obviously. They are also both bi-weekly so I am not sure why they have such differences in prices. Please let me know. I need your help! My friend has told me that I have to wear the brand that my Dr. prescribed because they measured my eyes and that would be the best fit. But I read somewhere that soft lens conform to the shape of your eye so it doesn’t really matter. It probably just matters the size of your pupil with the contacts. So I’m wondering, can I just wear any brand of contacts as long as they’re my prescription power?
My optometrist has recommended Freshlooks but I don’t really like them. I think they recommend Freshlook to almost everyone. That’s the only pamphlet I see in the office. I’m currently using Acuvue and Expressions colors. I’m asking about whether it’s safe to use any brand I choose against my doctor’s suggestion.

Ok so I just got my contacts on Tuesday.I have never worn contacts before.So my question is when I order contact lenses on 1-800 Contacts or any other contact place can I choose any contact brand?I am currenly using the AVAIRA contact brand.That’s what the eye doctor gave me.So can I just order any brand of contacts like Acuvue or FreshLooks when ordering contacts or should I stay with the brand my eye doctor gave me?Would it hurt my eyes to switch to another contact brand?My contacts don’t run our for a long tI ame.I have two different prescriptions for each eye.The eye people gave me a trial pair and then I bought two boxes of contacts while I was there.They didn’t have my right eye contact box so they have to order them.I do have a box full of my left eye contacts that they gave me.I am using the right eye trial pair contact lens,which is only one contact lens.I have a box full of my left eye contact lenses.The brand they gave me is AVAIRA for both my eyes.

-I got an eye exam and I got a temporary pair of Contact lenses for a while, for how long are they good? They are prescription contacts and are acuvue advance. Its been a week already, for how long more can I wear them. (how many weeks or days)
