I haven’t had contact lenses for a very long time. Yesterday when I removed my right lens, it seemed very dry. As I felt the lens, I noticed that it was completely dry with no moisture; I didn’t experience any pain or difficulty removing the lens. I’d like to know if it’s safe/healthy to use the multipurpose solution I use for the lenses as eye drops to re-moisturize them before removal.

Details: I use Acuvue Oasys for Nearsightedness contact lenses and Opti-Free Replenish solution.

I have new Acuvue Oasys lenses with silicon in them. Cibavision’s Aquify solution is recommended, but I have been a user of Opti-Free Express for a few years now. Other solutions include ReNu with MoistureLoc (recently reformulated), and Complete Moisture Plus.

My prescription is still current until Aug 2009. I am currently wearing PureVision Toric and would like to try Acuvue Oasys. Is this a possibility? I dont want to pay for another exam.

Okay tomorrow I am going to pick up my contacts from my eye doctor. I am just going to get a free pair then get my prescription and take it to Costco and buy them there because they are much cheaper. Anyways, I have allergies and my eyes get a little watery sometI ames from the wind blowing in them and all the other junk in it,but I currently use eye drops for that. I asked my eye doctor and he said to just put in the drops 10 minutes before then put on the contacts. So when I tried them on for a day they gave me the Acuvue 1 day but I was not sure which ones. So I am deciding whether I should get Acuvue Oasys with Hydroclear Plus or Acuvue Advance with Hydroclear. I am 13 if that helps.

I have been using the Aquify solution for a few weeks now on my Acuvue Oasys lenses but i just recently bought a bottle of Clear Care solution and since using it last night (following the directions) my contacts are now pretty foggy. Is this new solution dangerous to my contacts or my eyes and what should i do?

I received a prescription from my eye doctor for contacts and need to order them online from a provider for my insurance company.

The prescription is: -3.50 -1.50 X 095
-3.25 -1.75 X 055

However, the options to pick online are not the same, except for the power. Can someone help me figure out the best prescription to send in for contacts. I have to order Acuvue Oasys for Astigmatism soft contacts.

For example, for the cylinder options, the options are -1.25 or -1.75.

For the axis options, it only has powers of ten. So, do I round up or down if my axis prescription falls in between?

Can someone modify my prescription for me so that I can order online?

I just bought acuvue oasys (the monthly ones) and by opening the blister of one lens i mistakenly tore a little bit the blister of the other lens…
Will the other lens be preserved or will i have to throw it away by the end of the 30 days…

Where it says BC (base curve) on my prescription it only says ‘med’, no numbers. The prescription is for acuvue oasys and I’m trying to order lenses and need to know what med means? And also if the diameter on my prescription says 14.2 and the lenses are only offered in 14 do you think that will be okay? Thanks!
Agreed footprintz. The 14.2 was referring to another prescrip for biomeds and thats a whole nother rant but yes, still irritating about the med…

I am a 7th grader and I am playing volley ball next year so I am planing on getting me a pair of contact lenses (i haven’t talked to my parents yet , because I am gathering infos so that my mom will think that I am ready for them )

I tend to leave them on over night and change them monthly. The brand I have is Acuvue Oasys with Hydraclear Plus. In other words they stay on my eye for a whole month, night and day. Is that bad?

Without going to the optician that is; I want to order lens online, and need the base curve, which is not noted on my prescription. I have been recommended "Acuvue Oasys" by my optometrist. Those lenses can be ordered with a base curvature of either 8.4 or 8.8. Also, I have astigmatism in one eye, but he said that it is very insignificant and that I can wear the lenses without astigmatic correction. Here is what my prescription looks like:

OD: -2.75
OS: -2.50 -0.25 x 150
pd 58

K OD: 44.25/44.75 -0.50 x 180
OS: 43.75/44.50 -0.75 x 180

My doctor tells me that this is Rx can be used to order both lenses and glasses. But since there is no BC, they are telling me I need to be fitted and must pay an extra examination fee. Also, is there supposed to be a different power for contact lenses and eye glasses? Which one to use and how while ordering?

I got fitted for contact lenses about 6 months ago, but I find that my vision is constantly slightly blurry when I wear my contacts. (Also, every now and then my vision gets really blurry for about 30 seconds, but that is not really my problem). I get a lot of eyestrain and headaches, so having constantly blurry vision is not good for me. I am worried that I won’t be able to continue wearing contacts.

My eyeglasses prescription is

The astigmatism is worse in my left eye, and I am left eye dominant. My optometrist said that the astigmatism in my right eye is too small to be corrected by contact lenses (she said the ‘market’ for them was too small for companies to bother making contact lenses for that size). She tried to balance off the effects of my right eye astigmatism by distorting the ‘true’ contact lens prescription for my left eye.

The results of this are far from perfect. I cannot even wear my contact lenses because I get so much eyestrain and constant blurriness.

From what my optometrist said it sounds like all my contact lens problems would be solved if only my right eye was worst – if only the astigmatism was severe enough to be correctable with contact lenses. My glasses prescription is perfect for me, but not my contact lens prescription.

What other contact lens options do I have? I am using Acuvue Oasys lenses (Acuvue Oasys for Astigmatism in my left eye only). I have heard that RPG lenses give better clarity of vision. Is that an option for me? Is it possible for me to buy contact lenses from other companies that are perfect for my right eye astigmatism?

From google-searching it sounds like I have an "oblique astigmatism" which means my astigmatism, although quite low, has a greater-than-normal effect on my vision. It also means that when I blink my contact lens shifts more than for most contact-wearers, and I get very blurry vision for several seconds.

I’m about to go get fitted for contact lenses again after a few years and I have an astigmatism. The trials my optometrist gave me before were Acuvue Oasys and they drove me nuts. It felt like they were floating all over my eyes. I liked breathable they were, but I couldn’t handle the floating. Any recommendations?

I have been wearing contact lenses for more than 10 years and never had any problem. Starting recently, I all of the sudden feel uncomfortableness right after I put them on. Ok I wear Acuvue Oasys with Hydraclear Plus (so they like disappear one in my eye [really comfortable]). Well I was curious about getting color contacts (you know, just to see how they would feel on my eyes and see if they really work). Well I printed off a free trial for FreshLook Color Contacts and I took that in and they said that they were gonna give me the tinted kind just to try before trying the color. Well it feels like small bits of dirt are in my eyes at points. Do FreshLook usually feel like that? (I think its cause I have very sensitive eyes). I guess it really doesn’t matter cause I’m just planning on TRYING them, not buying a box. I was just wondering if anyone else had problems with comfort and dryness. Thank you for answering.
