Do They Have Colored Contact Lenses for People with Astigmatism?
I currently wear the Frequency 55 toric lenses with a base curve of 8.7 and diameter 14.4, i was wondering if there are any contact lens brand that have colored lense for astigmatism. I searched up the FreshLook ColorBlends Toric Contact Lens but their diameter is 14.5, will .1 make a difference anyways?

What Is the Typical Price Range for Custom Made Contact Lenses?
Hi,
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.
My eye doctor is recommending custom made contact lenses instead of the disposables I have been wearing. I have degenerative myopia (-13 both eyes), high astigmatism and dry eyes. I understand that it may be difficult to find an existing disposable lens for my eyes. My one concern is the price of custom made lenses. Does anyone know a range? Are they between 0-,000 per year? More than ,000?
Thanks again!

Contact Lenses?
I have severe astigmatism, and have been wearing glasses for almost 10 years now. I have been considering contact lenses. However, cost is also an issue. How much would a year’s supply of lenses cost me? (My doc said that because I have severe astigmatism, it would be more expensive. I am near-sighted)
Thanks!

Not Due for an Eye Exam Until March, but Vision Is Getting Worse? What to Do?
I will try and give as much background information as possible.
In March of last year I had an eye exam. I was told I needed glasses to correct a slight astigmatism and nearsightedness. I was told to wear them on a part-time basis, mainly when driving or in class.
I did as I was told for the next 9 or so months. As time progressed though, I noticed I was becoming more and more dependent on my glasses. I used to be able to wear them only while driving, but now I have to wear them almost full time. If I don’t, I get severe headaches. And even while wearing them, I still have headaches. My vision only slightly improves when I’m wearing them, but it makes it bearable.
I don’t know what to do. I’m not due for an eye exam until March, but I can’t continue like this for 2 more months. Should I suck it up and pay for the exam myself? What would you do in my situation?

How Do You Focus Your Eyes When Getting an Eye Exam?
When I got my eye exam 3 days ago, everything was great…then when I got my glasses I found I had to use my eye muscles a little to make the lenses be focused correctly. I am getting a headach after 15-30 minutes of wearing these cause I constantly have to strain my eye muscles to focus…if I completely relax my eye muscles my glasses are blurry…she said my prescription was near what it was last time (around 1.50 in each eye with .5 astigmatism in both eyes) and hasn’t changed much, but I shouldn’t have to use my eyes to focus right? I mean the glasses should work in my completely relaxed state right?

Are There Other Indications of Contact Lens Strength Other Than the Digits Listed on the Cases?
I went for an exam and my doctor told me my prescription had changed a little. Upon receiving a new set of trial lens from him, the powers of each lens were exactly the same. He said that doesn’t mean anything, the prescription strength can still be different based on which contact lens is prescribed, due to the shape (spherical or aspherical) and the material and thickness.
Is this true? If so, this is remarkable, and I think I should be trying more brands of lenses.
Also a side question – he told me that PureVision by Bausch and Lomb, being aspherical, can help me treat my astigmatism to a slight degree without going to toric lenses. But from their website, it seems the aspherical design is just to help improve sharpness over regular spherical lenses for (I assume) regular users, i.e., non-astigmatic users. Is what he said true?
I felt rushed the whole visit. I really want to try Air Optix but he told me to try these first for a few days. Shouldn’t I be allowed to try a few types to pick what feels best and looks sharpest? I’ve worn lenses for ten years.

1 Year Supply of Contact Lens for About 100 Dollars?
My cousin said he got a good deal for contacts lense…he got a year supply of contacts for only 100 something. He doesn’t remember where he got them.
I recently got an eye exam and a prescription for contact lense. The brand I’m looking for is Air Optix Toric. It’s for Astigmatism so it cost alot more. Everywhere I go, its about a box w/6 contacts . Thats way too much. Does anyone know where I can go to find a cheaper price or get the same deal my cousin did?

Eyeglasses Prescription Changed, but Contact Lenses Stayed the Same?
For seven years my prescription for my glasses has been -4.0 in each eye, and the same for my contacts. At my last eye exam the doctor changed my left contact lens to -4.25 and my left eyeglasses lens to -3.75. I received a trial pair of contact lenses, which made it difficult to read because the left eye was too strong. The doctor did a re-check, and he put me back in the -4.0 contact lenses for each eye, but left the eyeglasses at -3.75 and -4.0. I don’t have any problems reading or seeing distances with my current glasses. I want to order prescription sunglasses elsewhere, during a sale from 4/30-5/5, but I am not sure that my regular glasses from the doctor will be in, as they were special order, and I am afraid that this prescription will be wrong and I will be out the money for the lenses. Is it normal to have a change like this?
actually it does have a .50 astigmatism, but that’s for both eyes, and only one contact lense is stronger…
it is -3.75 x .50 x some number
-4.00 x .50 x some number
and the contact lenses are:
-4.00
-4.00

My Eyes Are Growing Less and Less Tolerant to Contact Lenses!?
I am 35 years old. I have been wearing glasses since I was 5. Since I was about 15 I have been wearing contact lenses. I have horrible vision and really bad astigmatism. My contact lens prescription is -9.50. For the last year or so I’ve noticed my eyes seem to be less and less tolerant of my contact lenses. I use soft, disposable contacts and I am very very clean and take all precautions when using them..I always have, but lately, I just cannot stand wearing them. My eyes are chronically red and my contacts just hurt. I’ve been forced to use my (very thick) glasses, and even if I have the absolute thinnest hi-index lens possible for my glasses, they’re still thick! Is it possible that with age, this is how it is? Your eyes just grow less tolerant to contact lenses? Has anyone else experienced this? Help!

Astigmatism Contacts Advice?
My eyes having always been irritated when wearing contacts. I just bought the Acuvue Advanced Astigmatism contacts and they feel a little better than the brand I was using before, but my eyes still get irritated quite easily. Eye drops help a little bit, but not significantly. Most of the time when I’m wearing then my eyes go a little red, feel dry and irritated, and are sensitive to light. Any advice? Are daily contacts better? Is there more effective ways to clean the lens?

Trouble Understanding a Unique Eye Prescription.?
this is my current contact lens prescription (my real prescription is slightly different because i guess there isn’t a contact lens that matches my left eye perfectly):
left eye: +2.75 -1.25 x 070
right eye: +1.50 -0.75 x 100
first, every site i find tells me that i have hyperopia (i am far sighted). i don’t understand why, because i have trouble seeing objects that are far away, and things that are near are crystal clear.
second, every site i find has an astigmatism sign that matches the first number, why are my signs different? what is the name for the type of astigmatism that i have?
third, can somebody explain the degree to me? what does 70 mean? is this like a line on my eye where the astigmatism occurs?
thanks so much!

GP Contact Lenses?
I have a couple of questions about GP contact lenses.
-do GP contact lenses have a different kind of prescription than glasses or soft contact lens prescriptions?
-I was on a contact lens website looking at GP lenses and I noticed that it did not have a choice to put down my cylinder strength for astigmatism. I thought GP lenses are excellent for astigmatism?
-I noticed on the website that GP lenses can go to a much higher power than soft lenses. For example the soft lenses can go to a -9.00 but on the GP lenses, it can go to a -30.00! Are GP lenses different in prescriptions or do they just offer higher power lenses?
Thanks!

Need Help for Toric Contact Lenses..please…anyone..?
My glasses prescription is R: -4.00/-1.00×160
L: -5.00/-1.00×20
The optometrist suggested me wearing toric contact lenses with
R: -3.75/-0.75×160
L: -4.75/-0.75×20
since -1.00cyl is not in the contact lens range.
.She said my sph needed to be reduced 0.25 because contact lens is much closer to the eye. But,since the cyl for both eyes are reduced 0.25 too, based on my experience, the sph for both eyes should be increased to cover the astigmatism.
Even in the previous non-toric contact lens prescription, the optometrist added just another 0.25 to my sph to cover the -1.00 cyl.
But,it didn’t turn out well.
so,this time,I’m not sure with her prescription. I think it should be R: -4.00/-0.75×160
L: -5.00/-0.75×20
what do you think?…help please…I’m gonna where the lenses for 1 year,so I need to make sure.
