I just started wearing contacts a couple of days ago. I use Opti-Free replenish solution. Whenever I put the contacts on, my eyes become irritated, red, and watery.
Is this normal? Is it because my eyes haven’t gotten used to the contacts? Should I wait a little longer?
Or am I allergic to the solution? I don’t know what the problem is.
I have contact lens for astigmatism.
And my contact lens are thick (since my prescription is -13).

I am getting contacts soon (less than a week) and i want to know what i should expect to happen. What exactly happens during a contact lens fitting? Do they check the size of your eye and curve and sutff? How…with what tools? also, what’s going to happen after the exam is over…do i get to try contacts on right after or do i have to revisit so that they can get the rigth size and shape contacts? In other words, would they necessarily have the contacts for my size in their inventory or do they have to order them and i have to go again? also, my optometrist i believe gives a month of contacts, but i think they charge for it…instead could i print out a coupon for a free trial pair from acuvue? can i print out more than one? also, how long does it take before i get used to the contacts? Will i eventually be able to put contacts in really quickly? when? also, how does it feel when you first put contacts on and do you know any tricks for putting them in with ease? best answer gets 10points

So the doctor told me to wear my contact lens for 4 hours, then keep adding 2 hours everyday until 12 hours. Now my contact lens ripped, and I have new ones. When I start wearing the new one, do I to start over the hours? Like wear the new ones for 4 hours, then 6, then 8 until 12 hours?

And how long can I wear my contact lens until I should change it?

Also, if one side of my contact lens ripped, but the other one is fine, can I just ask for a replacement for the ripped side only? Is it free or do I have to pay for it?

I just got contacts and I am on my trial pair, Acuvue Oaysis. My contacts get cloudy and irritated in the middle of the day, around 2 p.m. I will probably change the contact lens brand after discussing this with my eye doctor in 2 weeks for my contact lens checkup, but for now I want a solution or eye drops that will clear up the cloudyness well and reduce irritation. I am currently using Opti-Free Replenish. So what’s a good solution for cloudy, irritated contacts during the day? Or eye drops.

Hey, I am new to wearing contact lens and want to make sure I keep my eyes healthy and infection free as much as possible while wearing contacts. So I was wondering i washing out my eyes with warm water after taking out contacts can also help to prevent infection and bacteria and other stuff such as pollen, dust etc build up? Plus what I mean by washing my eyes I mean just splashing some warm water on my eyes. I usually do this anyway cause I wear makeup such as eyeshadow, eyeliner and occasional mascara.

the contact lens im using right now are 2 week contact lenses, but i’v been using it for over 2 months now. Is that bad? is it going to ruin my eyes?

I accidentally dropped my one of my contact lens when taking them out (dropped on ground), I found it after like 5-7 minutes and cleaned it. I have about 10 hours until school tomorrow, I was wondering if that was enough time for the contacts to be completely cleaned, or should I wait longer? Also, what is the ingredient in the solution (Opti-Free) that cleans?

I’m running a little low on the conditioning/soaking solution for my rigid/hard contact lenses and I’m currently in a third world country where the rigid conditioning/soaking solution seems nonexistent in markets, pharmacies, and optical stores–how bad would it be if I bought a container of the soft contact lens conditioning/soaking solution? So I’ve been thinking of getting contacts since my last fitting for glasses when i had just turned 16 in september. They offered me a free trail of contact lenses but I turned it down, wanting to wait a bit. Now I hardly wear my glasses; i.e i take them off when i do my makeup and i just tend to leave them off. I don’t get headaches I used to get when i took them off, though i obviously can’t see as well with them on as off. What i want to know is what IS a contact lens exam? Do they have to touch your eye? Because if i poke myself in the eye it kills and is that what the exam will be like? I’ve read they have to measure your eye, how exactly do they do that?

I have night & day contact lenses which I been wearing for 4 straight months with no problem. Until, recently about a week I started to get some blurry vision and some red eye. I took them off and put them in the case with solution overnight and happened again he next day.

I been using this AMO Complete Moisture Plus which I just found out that it was recalled because of some serious eye infections. I got rid of that and used the opti-free solution product to clean the current contact lens that I was wearing.

I just threw my current contact lens away and just wearing glasses for now.

What should I do?
