my cornea got scratched a week ago and I haven’t been wearing my contact lens because of it. I have glasses but the other night someone accidentally sat on them, so they are crooked when I put them on and they keep slipping off my face. my other eye is fine, so would it be okay to wear one contact lens in that eye until my other eye clears up? or can I go to the eye doctor and have them fix my glasses for free?

I am 22 and have never had a formal eye exam (only the types at the nurses office in school as a kid and at the DMV). I have noticed that my left eye is a bit blurry by itself, but the right is okay and they are okay together. I’ve finally decided I should bite the bullet and make an appointment with an eye doctor. Can someone tell me what’s likely to happen at my first exam? I would like contacts if the doctor decides my vision needs correcting, if that makes a difference. Thanks

I’m wearing these humongous sunglasses that my eye doctor gave me in the office because he ordered some tests and they had to dilated my eyes for the exam so it made my pupils open up so he could see them. It’s been about 3 hours and 20 minutes since the eye exam and tests so when i could take the sunglasses off ? I’m scared of taking them off to early and damaging my eyes.

Hi everybody-
I just found a new eye doctor and am going for an appointment next Friday. My insurance allows me to get one new pair of glasses a year if needed, and I haven’t had an eye appt in 2 years. But anyways, will I get new glasses/pick out new glasses at this eye appointment? Every other exam I’ve had always had him giving me a new prescription and picking out new frames and such that day.

My eye doctor is recommending custom made contact lenses instead of the disposables I have been wearing. I have degenerative myopia (-13 both eyes), high astigmatism and dry eyes. I understand that it may be difficult to find an existing disposable lens for my eyes. My one concern is the price of custom made lenses. Does anyone know a range? Are they between 0-,000 per year? More than ,000?

I’m 24 and have always had really good eye sight. But reacently it seems as though I’m not seeing things as clearly. When I’m driving I can’t read the signs as easily as I used to be able to and even at home things just seem more difficult to read. Could I just be imagining all this or is my vision changing? A couple of weeks ago I was working in the yard and poked myself in the eye with a stick. I went to an eye doctor and was treated for a cut cornea. According to the eye doctor I have a jagged cut all the way across the cornea.

When can I go to a vision center for an eye exam? I was told that since I cut my cornea with an organic material that the new cells taking the place of the cut on the cornea don’t hold as well as the original cells and can become detached somewhat easily.
I’ll add more info as Rodney suggested. I’ve already been to an eye doctor for the cut cornea. I was given an antibiotic eye drop to use for 1 week and was told ot purchase a liquigel eye drop to use for 30 days to help keep the new cornea cells from detaching. I want to get a regular eye exam (I wear glasses) because my prescription is expired and I want new glasses and sunglasses. I’d like to know how long after cutting a cornea must someone wait before getting a regular vision check for new glasses?

I went to the eye doctor in september 2010 and they gave me a prescription of +0.75 for an astigmatism. I went back today to get a contact exam and they said my vision is slightly near sighted. Is this even possible or r they quacks. My new prescription is -0.75.

I have been worrying the past several days that I am going blind. My right eye has always been worse than my left (I’m nearsighted) and over the past year I have noticed that I needed a stronger prescription. This all started several days ago when I was up for 30 some hours because I was out of my sleeping medicine. A lot of that time I was on the computer because there wasn’t really anything to do all night. By the time I could go to sleep my right eye felt blurry. I took my contacts out and went to sleep. I woke up the next day and everything was fine but kept switching closing eyes like I had the night before because my right eye seemed a little more blurry than usual. By the end of the day my eyes were dry and sore and I began to think I had strained eye or computer vision syndrome. The same thing happened the next day and got worse every minute because I was online looking up symptoms of horrible eye disorders. I noticed everything was kind of darker in my right than my left and there was a little bit of color desaturation in bright light. The next day I made an emergency eye exam with my eye doctor because I was worrying about it so much. He said there wasn’t anything too wrong and found out my eyes had changed a bit since I had last seen him. He changed my left eye from -3.00 to -3.50 and my right eye from -4.75 to -5.50. He didn’t do the "puff" test for glaucoma because his nurse is the one that used the machine but assured me that my symptoms would be worse if it was that.

Since wearing my new lenses the same thing is still kinda going on. I noticed today that with just my right eye everything far away is as clear as with my left eye but close up is blurry. Also driving home from work tonight I had slight double vision with lights until I blinked a few times.

Is this all just because my eye isn’t that great? I’m thinking maybe I’m just noticing things more now and also maybe my eyes have gotten used to the big upgrade in my contacts.

I’m sure no one has read this whole thing but I hope at least someone who can help has.
It was an optometrist and he said they had just gotten a new machine in that week and his "nurse" (or whatever she would be called) had been taking care of the tests that week. He is very competent about everything else.

On Monday, I got a trail run for contact lenses from my eye doctor. I wore them monday and my left eye felt okay and I cound’t feel it on my eye at all but my right eye I can feel it and it bothers me and it was also blurry. I didn’t wear them tuesday – friday but now today, saturday, I am wearing them and its stull blurry and I feel both of them in my eye. I just saw my eye doctor and she said that I have become slightly "near sighted" and need to get glasses.
Last summer when I had my eye exam my vision was 20/20.
I’m going to be a senior in high school this year I thought if I was going to get vision problems they would show up when I was little like elementary school.

I went to one eye doctor and I always went every 6 months to a year. Then, I transferred doctors and then the office never reminded me to schedule an appointment and it has been one year and one month. Since my last eye exam, everything is alright with my eyes so is that why they don’t follow up with another annual appointment? What do you think?

I have contacts but I haven’t been always washing my hands when handling them, falling asleep in them, and they’re over a month old. My friend said eye doctor can see when you didn’t take care of your contacts even if there aren’t any infections. What can I do to improve my eye health starting now so I’ll get good "results" at my exam? I’ve never had a thorough eye exam nor have I ever needed glasses. However, in the last couple of years my vision has really deteriorated. I’m certain that I need to start wearing glasses, but I don’t know where to start. Are places like Texas State Optical (TSO), Pearl Vision, Today’s Vision a good place to go because you can have an eye exam and get glasses? Or am I better off going to an actual eye doctor and then getting glasses elsewhere? I’m looking for the best overall experience, not necessarily the cheapest. Obviously, I want to get the most for my money, but I have no clue here. Any suggestions?

I hate going to the eye doctor. I don’t like getting my eyes poked and dilated. Can I just get a Vision exam to get my prescription renewed?
