What Is a Good Contact Lens Solution for Contacts That Get Cloudy and Irritated?

I just got contacts and I am on my trial pair, Acuvue Oaysis. My contacts get cloudy and irritated in the middle of the day, around 2 p.m. I will probably change the contact lens brand after discussing this with my eye doctor in 2 weeks for my contact lens checkup, but for now I want a solution or eye drops that will clear up the cloudyness well and reduce irritation. I am currently using Opti-Free Replenish. So what’s a good solution for cloudy, irritated contacts during the day? Or eye drops.

Why Multi Purpose Contact Lens Solutions Have Preservatives?

Most multi purpose contact lens solutions have preservatives. Some without preservatives suggest you don’t store contact lens over 48 hours. What is the benefit of preservatives?

Some contact lens rewetting eye drops emphasize preservative-free. What are the problems with preservatives in the eyes?

Opti-Free Replenish Contact Lens Solution. Can I Use It As Eye Drops?

        Hi,

I wear soft contact lens. Lately I’m experiencing dry-eye problem and I was told by a doctor to constantly use eye drops until winter is over. But the problem is that eye drops are soooo expensive.

I was wondering if I can simply use my contact lens solution as my eye drops during the day. I use Opti-Free Replenish Contact Lens Solution. Is it possible? dangerous? safe? stupid idea?? Please help. Thanks!

A Contact Lens Comfort Question and What Is Your Opinion on These Lens Brands?

I have very poor eyesight. My prescription is -12.5S and -14.25D (this is the contact-lens version of my current glasses prescription). I am currently on a trial pare of CIBA Focus Monthlies with my eye doctor. They seem okay at first, but throughout the day I get halos around things sometimes through my right eye, and my left one sometimes moves off of my eye. I’ve been wearing them on and off for a couple weeks now.

The reason I keep taking them off is because they get dry and itchy. Originally I used Opti-free cleansor to find that my eyes would burn horribly whenever they got wet so I switched to Complete and they seem to be fine but neither has helped the dryness or itchiness. We’ve tried a special overnight solution that cleans any protein or calcium off of them but with no difference in results. I’ve also gotten prescription eye drops which helped slightly with the itchiness, but not the dryness at all… My vision with the contacts gets worse throughout the day as do the halos on the right and moving on the left.

Are they moving/blurry because of the dryness, or could it be something else?

I have read that these brands of contacts are good for dryness. Do you have any experience with them? (I don’t want them to tear while in my eyes..)

CIBA O2Optix and Night & Day,
          Purevision from Bausch & Lomb,
Johnson & Johnson Acuvue Advance and
          Coopervision’s Proclear.

Thank you very very much. (My doctor has suggested the O2Optix, but says there is no warranty on them. They are 0 and if they don’t work, I’m out that money. I cannot go to another doctor because she is the only one in my area covered under my insurance.)

          Eye Contacts Lens Solution.?

This is my first tI ame using contacts, so I bought home the solutions and eye drops from Long Drugs. Because I am doing this on my own without an eye doctor, so I am a bit confuse. I bought the bausch&lomb gentle sensitive eyes plus saline solution. It says it is not use as a disinfectant, so does that mean i can only use it to store my lens and i can’t use it to clean my lens? If that is the case does that mean when i purchase another bottle of solution, what exactly am i looking for if i want the type of solution for cleaning usage?

What Brand of Acuvue Contact Lens Should I Get?

Okay tomorrow I am going to pick up my contacts from my eye doctor. I am just going to get a free pair then get my prescription and take it to Costco and buy them there because they are much cheaper. Anyways, I have allergies and my eyes get a little watery sometI ames from the wind blowing in them and all the other junk in it,but I currently use eye drops for that. I asked my eye doctor and he said to just put in the drops 10 minutes before then put on the contacts. So when I tried them on for a day they gave me the Acuvue 1 day but I was not sure which ones. So I am deciding whether I should get Acuvue Oasys with Hydroclear Plus or Acuvue Advance with Hydroclear. I am 13 if that helps.

Which Contact Lens Solution Is the Best? Aquify Vs. Opti-free Vs. Clean Clear?

i just got contacts yesterday and the doctor gave me a trial of aquify solution to try. however, it’s running out already (it’s a pretty small sample) and i’m looking to buy a large bottle of multi-purpose solution. i heard a lot of good things about opti-free express but i also heard that it can cause irritation.. are there any benefits that opti-free provides that aquify doesn’t? and what about clean clear? which is the gentlest/most moist on eyes? TIA!
also, are you allowed to bring the large bottles of contact solution on flights? like 10 oz +? because the TSA website states "All prescription and over-the-counter medications (liquids, gels, and aerosols) including lubricating jelly, eye drops, and saline solution for medical purposes are permitted. You are not lI amited in the amount or volume of these items you may bring in your carry-on baggage. BUT if the medically necessary items exceed three ounces or are not contained in a one-quart, zip-top plastic bag, you MUST declare to one of the security officers at the checkpoint for further inspection." but has anyone had any trouble with the LARGE bottles of solution? thanks!!!

Can I Store My Contacts in EXPIRED but UNOPENED “Blink-N-Clean Lens Drops (eye Drops) Solution?

I’m in a bit of an odd situation. I am in a 3rd world country that doesn’t have 24/7 places to buy lens solution, etc. So I had to wear disposable contacts today, and I don’t have a case nor any solution to store them in. But I found an unopened bottle of eye drops. Can I store my lens in 2 plastic cups covered in wrap, with these eye drops as a substitute for contact lens solution? Any quick and helpful response is MUCH appreciated!!

VERY DESPERATE & FRUSTRATED – Trouble Putting Contact Lens on!?

This is the 2nd tI ame I spent over 0 out-of-packet money to buy and try a pair of contact lens. The 1st tI ame and this tI ame is the same. I CANNOT put my conntact lens on by myself no matter how hard and how long I tried. I am so frustrated I am in tears and feeling desperate.
I wet my lens quite well and I put eye drops on my eyes so it won’t be too dry when I was putting them on. I COULDN’T!
I tried numerous degrees of wetness in both the lens and my eyes. It didn’t help. I just COULDN’T get them on.
I need glasses and really want to wear contact lens instead. But, how come even a child can put contact lens on but not me?!
Oh, I did use my fingers to open my eye lids and the under eye wide open (and I can touch my eye balls with no problem) but the lens stick back to my finger instead of to my eye ball. The lens just wouldn’t go into the eye. I pressed ever so slightly but the lens turned over and stick back on my finger.
I am so very FRUSTRATED! Any ideas will be most welcomed

Is It Safe to Use Multipurpose Contact Lens Solution to Moisturize My Eyes?

My eyes dry up pretty easily while wearing my contact lenses so I’ve been using my opti-free multipurpose solution as eye drops. I’m reluctant to buy real eye drops or rewetting solution, but I just now thought that maybe I shouldn’t be squirting these chemicals into my eyes. What do you think?

And is this something that eye drops can sort out? if so, which kind of eye drops?

I Found Out Today at the Eye Doctor That I Have an Inflamed Cornea and Irritated Eye. I Wear Contact Lenses?

quite a bit, probably 16 hours a day every day. Of course I’m back to wearing my glasses for now but I’m wondering how common eye conditions like this are when wearing contact lenses. Makes me think that wearing glasses instead is the better bet!! How serious is corneal inflammation? I was given eye drops and I have to go back at the end of this week for my doctor to see how things are doing.

Can I Wear Contact Lenses if My Eyes Hurt?

Since last night one of my eyes is really hurting me. It feels like something is stuck in the upper lid. But I tried everything, washing it, tea bags, and eye drops! Nothing has helped. I can’t go to the doctor today, so I’m going tomorrow. But the problem is, 2day i have this really big event and I need to wear my contacts! I never go out with glasses! I’m just not used to them! I wear daily J&J lenses. So they’re definitely clean. Please tell me I can wear them today! I’ll only wear them for a few hours!

I have severe dry eye, and the couple of eye drops that I have used only last for a few minutes and then my eyes are dry again. Is there a thicker and more cushioning eye drop that is safe to use with RGP (gas permeable) contact lenses.
