Is it normal for an eye dr to flip the screens of the part of the eye exam where they ask ‘Which is better…this one or this one…this or this’ to go at a quick pace without giving time to focus?

I have been going to an eye specialist for awhile now because I have been told I have a condition called Chronic Iritis in my right eye (I went to several local eye drs and because of the treatment being above the level of service they could provide, they referred me to him).

Now, over the years and before my diagnosis, I was given many different prescriptions that ranged from being very nearsighted in one eye and farsighted in the other to glasses that were very strong or weak and I would wear them for awhile and one day, my vision would be ‘perfect’ and the next, they made my vision too blurry and gave me a severe migraine and they would end up getting put in a drawer somewhere, never to be worn again and I was no better off than when I went in in the first place and when I called the eye drs, they would simply tell me that ‘my eyes had to get use to the new glasses and that was the way I tested to be.’

A few yrs ago, I was referred to an eye specialist because I have an eye condition called Chronic Iritis and at least two different drs referred me to this guy because they said the level of treatment for this is a little bit more than they could provide me with (a few weeks ago, this eye specialist injected my eyeball with medication that he said is to last 6 months to try to treat my problem).

TODAY, I am suppose to have my first-ever full eye exam with this specialist and while I know that he is really good at what he does, if he starts to go too fast on the eye exam, should I tell him to slow down so that I don’t end up with another expensive pair of glasses sitting in the drawer added to my collection? I’m just afraid that if I say something, he will get mad and not treat me anymore because he might feel as though I am questioning his ability or something.

I have never worn glasses and yesterday went for an eye exam. I’m 50 years old and in what seems like a few short months, my vision has degenerated to 20-60. I’m going to fill my Rx this weekend and buy frames. I’m new at this and am afraid of going blind! Is 20-60 vision really bad?
I was given an eye exam at one of those chain optical stores, and no extra testing was done besides the standard stuff.

Hello. So I’ve been experiencing blurred vision around my peripheral vision for the past couple of months, and occasionally, I can’t read sentences at a distance. It’s becoming much more of a nuisance because I started reading much more frequently, and I’ve noticed that (afterwords) my eyes are really dry, and it takes a while for them to focus on something.

I was wondering if I should get an eye exam? And, if so, should I stop rubbing my eyes because it just makes the blur worse.

(I’m 25 and a digital artist. I’ve notice it’s really hard for my eyes to focus on the computer monitor frequently.)

I bought glasses from Walmart about 3 years ago. I had the eye exam done there too. However, I have since lost my prescription, and would like to order glasses from an online vendor (referred by a friend). I was wondering if current prescrition glasses and a recent eye exam could help correct vision to 20/20 when my glasses are on? I may soon be taking a medical exam for a job which requires 20/20 vision. I no longer have it naturally, but I can still be cleared if I display it with galsses. Is 20/20 vision with modern glasses possible? My non-glasses vision is not terrible so I am hoping the prescription would restore it to 20/20.

I got my eye exam and my vision has changed. I wear contacts and the measurements on the boxes say -7.00 for my right eye and -6.50 for my left eye. Honestly is this really bad? Im really sad right now because about two years ago (im guestimating) my prescription was -5.75. Is this a significant change for two years? What’s my eyesight measurement like in comparison with the average eyeglass wearer’s prescription?

My husband is 24 years old and has not had an eye exam since he was a very small child. Recently I have noticed that he holds the newspaper really close to his face in order to read it. I thought I was overreacting until we went to his Mother’s house tonight and he picked up the paper. She asked him when the last time he had an eye exam was because she also noticed that he was holding it very close to his face. I have worn glasses all my life and go to the eye doctor sometimes as much as twice a year because of changes in my vision. Am I just being paranoid or do I need to continue encourgaging him to get an exam? He’s very stubborn and doesn’t do well with doctors at all….

I recently got an eye exam from an opthalmologist and my prescription shows astigmatism in both eyes. I have never noticed blurriness or any warped vision previously, and my previous exams with other opticians (including one about 18 months ago) did not show astigmatism.

I got my new glasses today and feel a little like my right eye is looking through a fishbowl. It’s nothing horrible, but it’s a little weird.

Should I give the new glasses a few days? They don’t give me headaches, so that’s not an issue. They don’t make much of a difference in vision from the old glasses (other than astigmatism), but…they look a lot better than the old ones.

I had an eye exam at Pearl Vision and they quoted me a very high price for glasses. My prescription itself is inexpensive because my eyes are fairly good, and I only need glasses for seeing things off in the distance when I am driving. Their high price is due to the cost of their frames.

I asked them for my prescription so I could get my glasses from somewhere else for hundreds less, but they will not give it to me. Is that legal? The way I see it I paid for an eye exam and the result of that eye exam should be my property. If the eye exam is their property then I should have gotten it for free, or the cost of the exam should be deducted from my frames and lenses. Anyone ever have this problem?

I got glasses when I was 12, never really wore them, and have stayed at around -1.25 in each eye for the past 7 years. I’m about to turn 20, and just went in for an eye exam and was told my prescription is now -0.5. I don’t feel like my eyes are much better (I didn’t ever need my glasses except driving/at school) but I guess it was a gradual improvement. Why did this happen? well a while back i got shot with a 360 fps airsoft gun from bout 5 ft away in the eye and i went for an eye exam cuz my vision was worse so he said i have astigmatism in the eye i got shot with the airsoft gun in and i used to not and my vision is now more worse in that eye then it was……is it cuz of the airsoft gun
ok i didnt shoot myself my cuz was sitting on the other side of is bed across from me and accendently shot the gun ant it hit me in the eye my eye got red sort of puffy and really watery and stung

20/60 is with glasses on, it’s the best that can be done…my eye sight has been getting worse for years but since I’ve been out of the country I couldn’t get a real eye exam…they are now horrible. I guess i should say I’m 20 yrs old.
