Help me !! I am an 16 yrs old student and i am planning to replace my glasses with contact lenses as i feel that it is much more comfortable . My 1st TIME planning to buy an LONG TERM(for like 1 year period) contact lenses .

The question that i want to ask is :

1] Do i need to go and see an eye doctor ? or can i just go to the lens shop and and buy my lenses from the optician there. is it okay to do that ?

2] what are the pros and cons with using an long term contact lenses.

3] will wearing lenses I amprove my eyesight ? [i mean will it reduce my eyesight degrees ]

4} Is the eyesight degrees measurement different for glasses and lenses ? [For Eg, if my eyes are both 300 deg when wearing glasses , will it be same when wearing the lenses ??

i wear prescription contacts & i have glasses, and i wanted to get colored contacts. i wanted to get the non-prescription ones because there cheaper nd ill just wear my glasses over them. do you guys know any reliable safe websites that sell them? oh and do i need like a doctors note or something?

I’m new to contacts and am a little perturbed on how to determine if the contact prescription I have is right for me. I have astigmatism and can see pretty clearly with my current prescription, but not quite as well as with my glasses. I’m also experiencing some discomfort in my eyes; they feel cold and they have that tired feeling.

I did try a trial pair of a different brand that I knew right away were not right for my eyes, but I’m wondering if should even bother with a third trial pair. Is it possible that my current lenses would become more clear and comfortable if I just experI ament with different saline solutions and refreshing drops? I’ve watched several videos online about inserting contacts correctly, so I don’t think that’s an issue, I just don’t know if they would be better with different drops/saline. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

My contact prescription expired just a few days ago, and i hadn’t realized that it was going to expire, so I didn’t make a new appointment for a new prescription. So, this morning, one of my contact lenses ripped and i don’t have a pair of back up glasses as i just never wanted to spend the money on them as i knew i wouldn’t wear them.
So, now i have one contact, no more boxes, and no glasses. How do i go about to fix this problem?

Ok here is my situation…

I wear glasses all the tI ame and i fancied (after much courage building) to go and make myself a contact lens fitting appointment.

As i have been wearing my glasses since the age of 5 or 6 i have quite a "strong" optical prescription.

I also have astigmatism so therefore i would be requiring the "toric" lenses.

I have noticed that all of the contacts only go up to a power of + 6.00 diopters, is the glasses prescription the same as contact lense prescription powers.

My prescription is +6.50 and +6.75 in the other eye, will that make me not eligible for toric contacts?

Or could i just wear the +6.00? As the opticians did consider that to be a viable option.

A couple of questions.

The name of my contact lens in SIH 48 (Monthly ultI amate). Having looked online I have found it under the name of biofinity, and they claI am they are continuous wear lenses (for up to 29 days), however my optician told me I could wear them for 12-14 hours per day. Is this right?

Second, my prescription for both eyes is the same, sph: -0.75, and cyl: -0.5 (I think, because I believe she has forgotten to put the minus sign).

This is different from my glasses prescription, right eye, sph:-0.5, cyl: -0.5

left eye, sph:-0.5, cyl: -0.25.

I really just want to confirm that this prescription is correct, since I have been searching on the internet and I am unable to choose a measurement for cyl for this type of lens. Is it possible she just wrote down the cyl even though that’s not for my lenses?
Footprintz, I live in the UK, and I assure you this is not a trial. I went for my final recheck yesterday, and these lenses were finalised. I went to Specsavers, and I definitely got a contact lens prescription, which has a cylindrical fitting. I am aware this fitting cannot be purchased.

Thanks for your help Footprintz. To be honest I think I for my glasses my prescription should be the same for each eye, which would explain the contact lens ‘sph’. I phoned them up today and asked them to send me another prescription just in case, since I actually had to ask the optician for my prescription yesterday.

I do not wear my eyeglasses that often. I only wear it at home. I usually wear contact lens. The owner of the eyeglassess persuaded me to get anti-reflective glasses instead of the normal one. I ended up pay CA extra. Is it worth to pay more? I still feel very uncomfortable paying the extra when I think i don’t need it.
honestly, I can’t notice the difference when I am wearing them. I can only see the difference wen someone else wearing it or I just look at the glasses with my naked eyes.

I am a 24 yr old male. I have been wearing contact lens & glasses for at least 6 years. My concern is regarding my change in prescription. It seems like every tI ame I go for my yearly exam I end up needing a new prescription. It usually changes for .5 or so each tI ame. I am just wondering when will my eyes finally stop changing? Should I be worried? Where will I be in my 30′s or 40′s? Am I going blind?

Also, I recieved a new prescrption several months ago (left eye -3.00, right eye -3.50). It may just be me being paranoid, but I feel like I dont see as clear as I did when I received the prescription.

Am I crazy? Should I be worried? Any suggestions…?

I recently purchased some glasses lens. Problem is, I can barely see through these glasses. I noticed when I looked at my prescription that my glasses prescription had the exact same numbers as my contact lens prescription.

Are glasses/contacts lens prescriptions supposed to be different? I have heard so in the past. This would certainly explain why I feel like I am underwater or something.

What I don’t understand is what OD-ADD is, I don’t see anything else on my contact lens that can be used to fill it in. Also, my left eye contact lens (non astigmatism) doesn’t have the CYL or AXIS numbers. Are these for astigmatisms only?

I got some to try for the week by my eye doctor and they’ve been giving me problems all week long. Right now they just fell off both of them, out of no where.. and i put one on a red envelope stamp to distinguish left from right and it decided to suck up the color of the stamp. So a few days ago my bf got glasses on sale and they measured his PD at the actual place where he purchased his glasses.
