I have to get an eye exam on Friday. I’m almost positive that I’ll need glasses and I plan to get contacts. How long will all of this take?

I already got my eye exam for the year (for both contacts and regular glasses) but now I want colored contacts…

If I went to Pearle Vision and got another? eye exam, would I need to pay? For some reason, I feel like they have a policy that if I’m buying something from them the exam is free, but I’m not sure.

I have this increaingly blur of things far away. I know I am near-sighted. This began about a year ago. A year ago, I never had glasses/contacts. I see double shadows, but I do not confuse colors. Double shadowing begins at about 1 meter away, but it is not that strong. About 4 meters away, it is slightly tronger. From wall to the opposite wall about 100 meteres, it is super blurred. I want to find what vision do I have, 20/40 vision, 20/30, what?

I read a lot and use the computer about 8 hours each day on the weekends. Not so mucch on weekdays. My monitor is actually an LCD screen so there isnt any radiation. My dad had eye near-sighted problems, and my brother got the same thing. I was told it was passed down by heredity. My mother had no problems with her eyes.

And please explain what happens at an eye exam? Procedures, the machines, everything.

And I heard you could focus youreyes back to 20/20 vision with glasses. You need to teach yourself to focus. True or no?

So i just got my new glasses and my mom said i could get contacts too.
But i already have my prescription from my glasses and the place im going too has a copy of it.

I’ve never had a thorough eye exam nor have I ever needed glasses. However, in the last couple of years my vision has really deteriorated. I’m certain that I need to start wearing glasses, but I don’t know where to start. Are places like Texas State Optical (TSO), Pearl Vision, Today’s Vision a good place to go because you can have an eye exam and get glasses? Or am I better off going to an actual eye doctor and then getting glasses elsewhere? I’m looking for the best overall experience, not necessarily the cheapest. Obviously, I want to get the most for my money, but I have no clue here. Any suggestions?
I am about to turn 31.

When I got my eye exam 3 days ago, everything was great…then when I got my glasses I found I had to use my eye muscles a little to make the lenses be focused correctly. I am getting a headach after 15-30 minutes of wearing these cause I constantly have to strain my eye muscles to focus…if I completely relax my eye muscles my glasses are blurry…she said my prescription was near what it was last time (around 1.50 in each eye with .5 astigmatism in both eyes) and hasn’t changed much, but I shouldn’t have to use my eyes to focus right? I mean the glasses should work in my completely relaxed state right?

Is there a difference between an eye exam and a contact eye exam in the US? I went in to get some glasses and contacts and the people claimed that it costs more to get a contact lens eye exam over just a normal eye exam. Is there such a thing? Is there any difference? So, I just got contact lenses (FINALLY) and they are soft, monthly-wear that I replace on the 21st. My prescription is the same for both eyes.

I just tore my right one–just a small notch–that I think might be caused by not using enough solution in my case. OK, now I know. Of course I’m not going to use it again, but since it’s already pretty close to the 21st, should I replace both? Would I replace them earlier next time? Should I just stick with back-up glasses until the 21st rolls around?

I know it’s a little nit-picky, but I want to be as safe as possible.

Also, my mom suggested that, if I do replace them early, I should keep the left one (the one that is fine) in a separate case with solution so I could use it if I tear another lens sometime. Since it’s my mom, I have my doubts. Could I take a lens that I’ve been using for most of a month and store it in solution as a back-up lens?

hi! my prescription is as follows:

Right eye:
Spherical–0.50
Cylindrical–1.50
Axis-20 degrees

Left eye:
Spherical-0.00
Cylindrical–1.25
Axis-170 degrees

Please someone suggest which type of contacts should i go for-torics or any other, coz i visited an optician recently who suggested that i should not go for torics considering my cylindrical number is not that high. But i have heard that people with cylindrical number should always go for torics. My age is 20 and i have been wearing glasses for about 1.5-2 years. Also the optician i visited gave me a contact lens pair to try which wasn’t torics and i felt comfortable wearing them, though i tried them for only for a few minutes. I have never tried contact lens before. Please someone suggest me as to what type of contacts should i go for…thanks a lot!
The optician gave me those lens for using only for 5 minutes and i have read in many forums that people often are not comfortable wearing torics..and if i should only go for torics, then which is the best brand of torics and its price? and is there something called the diameter of the eyeball and do opthalmologists in India measure the eyeball before giving the contact lens prescription because i have read that the various parameters of the eye like the diameter of the eyeball, etc, vary from person to person and the contacts have to be custom made to fit the eyes of an individual…please suggest…thanks a lot!

I have been wearing the same contact lens brand since i was around 16, i am now 24. For a few months now I’ve been having trouble seeing clearly when wearing my contacts, even when I put a brand new pair in. However, when I wear my glasses i see perfectly clear so I don’t think my prescription changed. Is it possible I need to just switch brands?

I plan on going to the eye doctor when i run out of the remaining supply of contacts I have. Just curious if anyone has had this problem.

are these feelings mean that this type of contact lens doesnt suit my eyes or it takes longer time to get use to it?

i have never wear contact lens before so i was with the optician and was putting the contact lens into my right eye wear left eyes was already put in it…

as you all know when u 1st get a heavier prescription for ur glasses and u try it out…things around u look slighty "floaty"..esp. the floor..doesnt look levelled..feeling bit up and down

and this happened to me when i put on the contact lens…but only slightly at first..but then i felt bit uncomfy in my right eye…so the optician took it out and put it back in and this time the floor look really up and down and floaty.

is this mean this type of contact lens doesnt suit me or do i need to wear abit longer to get use to it?

plus i can feel the right eye contact lens corner…im not sure is it coz how the optician put it in for me or what….but i dont feel anything for my left eye
