Im near sited and havnt had an eye exam in about a year, could my vision of gotten worse, i somtimes forget to wear my glasses alot. But lately Ive been having horrible headaches from morning till night. my vision seems like its gotten worse but last time i wasted money on a check up I didnt need, my dr. said my vision was the same.. any suggestions?

i need an eye exam because i havent had one in 2 years how much would it cost and yes i have insurance the last time i went to americas best for an eyeglass exam it cost like 116 dolars for the glasses and special coating and stuff…. im looking into pearle vision, americas best, vision works as well, but i may just go to americas best

I am in my mid 20s and have recently been studying for professional exams. I have found that at the start of each day my vision has been fine and I have been able to easily read projected slides from medium distances in the classroom but by the middle of the day after regularly combining near work I have found it difficult to see the projected slides which appear increasingly blurry. I have tried to sit marginally closer but the same thing happens, it is very frustrating not being able to see clearly.

I went to an optician a few years ago about a silmilar problem where I could not see slides from near the back of the classroom and was told my vision was fine and that it was not uncommon when studying hard and being tired that distance vision could become blurry, but it would return after rest.

I have been reading up on the problem and I think it is some sort of nearwork induced transient myopia (NITM) also called pseudo myopia, where close work causes the eye to accomodate and get locked into close vision so distance vision become blurry.

I have tried to rest and exercise the eye and they seem fine when away from the classroom, though sometimes blurry with a high correlation to if I have been studying. I am currently away from the classroom and doing much computer work but my eyes do not seem to be suffering too badly but I am worried when I go back to the classroom the problem will return.

I don’t think an eye test or glasses will help as for the majority of the time my eyes are fine and last time I was told that it was normal and my eyesight was good and I should not worry.

Has anyone suffered something similar and is there something that I can do to stop the blurriness at distance.
Thanks for your help. I have heard about this wearing of reading glasses, and understand the logic, though it would be really annoying to have to take them on and off at work.

Do you think I should go for the eye exam while my vision is good or when it is likely to be blurry and explain my problem again to the optician and say I need something done?

I am worried that if I go and they think I am short sighted, either from what I say or the results, they may give me a prescription for it and I will then have to wear glasses for everything including driving which I think you have to do legally even if the prescription is slight. I have heard stories of people becoming dependent and vision getting worse. Is there anyway to make sure this does not happen and I get prescribed glasses for reading (longsight).

Im 18 live in Canada.. I have a free eye exam (I have 3 free eye exams before i start paying) today and I was wondering if I need to pay extra to get a percription for contact lens. Last time I only got a percription for glasses, so this time when i get my updaded perscription for my glasses, could I ask to get a percription for contacts without no charge?

When I got my eye exam 3 days ago, everything was great…then when I got my glasses I found I had to use my eye muscles a little to make the lenses be focused correctly. I am getting a headach after 15-30 minutes of wearing these cause I constantly have to strain my eye muscles to focus…if I completely relax my eye muscles my glasses are blurry…she said my prescription was near what it was last time (around 1.50 in each eye with .5 astigmatism in both eyes) and hasn’t changed much, but I shouldn’t have to use my eyes to focus right? I mean the glasses should work in my completely relaxed state right?

I know that my contact lens prescription is -8.00. I figure my glasses prescription will be a little bit less. I am going for my annual exam tomorrow. 2 PART QUESTION!
This is just a trivial little question I was thinking about, since I’m going for a contact lens eye exam tomorrow to renew my lens prescription. So basically, does the doctor want to examine my eyes WITH the lenses in? – Do I wear them into the doctor’s office, then take them off?
If I just go with the lenses out will they make me put them in, then take them out again? I honestly don’t remember what I did the last tI ame I went for an eye exam, it was so long ago… ALSO,
I just thought of this: If I already have a lens prescription from 2 years ago and just want an updated prescription so I can order more Acuvues from an online site like 1800-contacts. Do I need to get the contact exam in addition to the basic eye exam?

i’ve been going to this optometirst for more than 2 years and hes been getting me all my contact lens, every tI ame he got me my blended green contacts it was always a different colour , i didnt care , i orderd a yearly blonded green about 2 month ago and he got me 1 i still didnt like the colour again i didnt care i started wearing me ,, but they get very irritating after 20 mins , and also they move around in my eyes sometI ames, he never done any tests lately to get me te right size contact lens ,, last tI ame he did was more than 2 years ago ,. lately i just couldnt take it no more so iwent 2 another optometrist who gave me night and day ones and i love them , they are the best contacts ever and they fit perfectly , now what can i do about my old onez ,just chuck them , i contacted hI am yesterday telling hI am they they get sooo dry and irritating he said buy eye drops , when i said they dont fit he goes oh bring them we’ll have a look under the microscope , is it my fault ??? or his fault ???? did i just waste 0 ? also the new optometrist informed me that freshlook never come in monthly , only in 2 weeks disposable , when iuse to purchase them he said they were monthly and i use 2 wear them for 5 weeks , also she said that all yearly contacts make the eyes very dry and he should of told me that before he got them for me , and that he should at least give me a 2 week trail contacts before he get me the yearly ones ???

i know most of you are probably going to say go to an optometrist but people who have contacts know it cost more to get contact exam more than getting a glasses exam. i can’t really afford that right now especially without an insurance. i dont have astigmatism last tI ame i checked.

my glasses prescription is +1.00 both eyes and i’m nearsighted.

i have astigmatism in my left eye and when i close my right eye i see kind of blurry but when i look with both my eyes i see fine so because of this i don’t wear glasses and haven’t for about 3 years now. sometI ames i get headaches but its more like eye aches in my left eye, i know that sounds really funny but thats what its like!! should i get glasses? the last tI ame i went to the opticians the guy said i didn’t need them because my right eye could compensate for my left eye being bad. and also can i wear contact lenses (or one contact lens lol xD) even though i’m only 14 cuz i have a friend who wears them and shes younger than me. also why is my eye hurting because it hurts kinda oftenly occasionally type of thing its vairrrrr vair annoying.

okay so i want to get colored contacts but i wanted to try the free trial first.

i sent in all my information and then they sent me a certificate to my email for a free in-office trial

I’m used to just pinching the contact out of my eye with my fingertips because I don’t have long nails. But I got my nails done for an event, recently, & it’s pretty hard to remove my contacts. I mean, I CAN remove them, but it’s so hard! I’m scared of scratching my eye, or tearing the contact. I got one contact out succesfully last tI ame, & the second one I needed my mom to do it for me, because I just couldn’t catch the contact. Is there an easy way to remove my contacts with long nails?

It’s tI ame for my eye exam and the last tI ame I was getting my contact lens exam, I asked the doctor if I could try a pair of colored contacts. He stated that I should have mentioned it before he started the exam because clear contacts and colored contacts eye exams are different. I don’t see why or how they can be different but I accepted his answer, took my clear contacts and went about my business.

Can someone explain to me what they do in a colored contact lens exam that they don’t do in a clear contact lens exam? Or was that eye doctor just full of it and making bogus excuses?
