Question About an Eye Exam Scheduled for TODAY…
Is it normal for an eye dr to flip the screens of the part of the eye exam where they ask ‘Which is better…this one or this one…this or this’ to go at a quick pace without giving time to focus?
I have been going to an eye specialist for awhile now because I have been told I have a condition called Chronic Iritis in my right eye (I went to several local eye drs and because of the treatment being above the level of service they could provide, they referred me to him).
Now, over the years and before my diagnosis, I was given many different prescriptions that ranged from being very nearsighted in one eye and farsighted in the other to glasses that were very strong or weak and I would wear them for awhile and one day, my vision would be ‘perfect’ and the next, they made my vision too blurry and gave me a severe migraine and they would end up getting put in a drawer somewhere, never to be worn again and I was no better off than when I went in in the first place and when I called the eye drs, they would simply tell me that ‘my eyes had to get use to the new glasses and that was the way I tested to be.’
A few yrs ago, I was referred to an eye specialist because I have an eye condition called Chronic Iritis and at least two different drs referred me to this guy because they said the level of treatment for this is a little bit more than they could provide me with (a few weeks ago, this eye specialist injected my eyeball with medication that he said is to last 6 months to try to treat my problem).
TODAY, I am suppose to have my first-ever full eye exam with this specialist and while I know that he is really good at what he does, if he starts to go too fast on the eye exam, should I tell him to slow down so that I don’t end up with another expensive pair of glasses sitting in the drawer added to my collection? I’m just afraid that if I say something, he will get mad and not treat me anymore because he might feel as though I am questioning his ability or something.
Any help.

When Getting Eyes Examined Is It Better to Get Used to Vision Without Glasses or Go Wearing Glasses?
After wearing glasses, when I take them off my vision is blurry. I’m afraid if I go to take the eye exam (to see if I need new prescriptions, hadn’t had one in years), if I take my glasses off in the doctor’s office and do the exam, my vision might get artificially diagnosed worse than it really is. Should I not wear glasses for a few hours before going in so my vision gets used to the blurry and will that be more accurate? Or am I supposed to get tested wearing my existing glasses? or ?

Are There Any Online Contact Lenses Sites Where You Dont Need?
a current exam? My vision has not changed in 4 years, every year I got for an exam, every year its the same, yet I pay 0 each year for him to tell me the same thing, well is there any site where you can order contacts, and you dont need to show proof of a valid exam, or prescription? I know the specifics of my prescription (got a copy from the eye doctor) Its not that I’m cheap, I just think its a waste of money, if the contacts start seeming weak, then I would go in to be rechecked.
Anyone?
Yes, I know the purpose of the exam. I’ve been wearing contacts or glasses for 15 years, I think I would know if I was having any issues with my eyes. There are even eye doctors that write two year prescriptions, because they dont feel the eyes change that much in a year, unfortunately..mine doesnt. People can buy prescription drugs on the internet, but you cant buy contacts!

Can Wearing Weak Prescription Be Harmful for Your Vision?
Prescriptions tends to vary based on who’s doing your eye exam. Some optometrists tend to give strong and some give a little less strong do avoid headaches or dizziness.
However, if you wear eye glass with old prescriptions (weaker than your current prescription) at home, can this be harmful and further deteriorate you vision?
Or is it the other way around? Does wearing stronger than necessary prescription deteriorate your vision?

Are There Any Places That Carry Prescription Theatrical Contacts IN STOCK?
I placed an order with a company under the impression they carry prescription theatrical contacts in stock, since it said ships immediately, but it turns out just like almost all the places I see, they need to order from the manufacturer. Of course, this just happens to be inconvenient, I really need the contacts by Thursday, and am willing to pay all manner of prices for a service/company that will send me a theatric lens in my prescription. Surely there must be SOME place that bought multiple prescriptions of a contact and thus have them in stock?

I'm Wondering About My Eye Glasses Prescription?
I wear contact lenses most of the time. My contact lens prescription is the same for both eyes (-3.0). I’m thinking of getting a pair of glasses. My eye glasses prescription states my left eye (OS) is -3.25, while my right eye (OD) is -3.0. Lately I have been noticing that I seem to be straining to use my left eye more so than my right, sometimes tilting my head so my left eye is closer to what I am looking at. I feel as though I am using my right eye less. Doesn’t this go against my prescription suggesting that my left eye is actually stronger than the right, as I rely on it more, or is this a result of straining to use my left eye?
I’m not sure what you mean? I should add that these are not new prescriptions (they are about a yr and a half old, the contacts one is actually expired. Also, this straining isnt extreme and only started recently. Furthermore, I’m just looking to get the glasses to have them, not as a result of this issue.

Why Do I Need to Get Used to My Eye Glasses if My Prescription Is the Same As My Contacts?
I recently got new lenses in my eye glasses to match my contact lens prescription. I’ve had glasses before, it was just an update. I was instructed to wear them a few days to get used to them. I can see clear if I focus on an object for a second or two, but if I look at multiple things in a short period of tI ame, I get dizzy. My prescriptions are the same, so why do I need to adjust to my eye glasses if I’m already used to my contacts???

Why Does My Left Contact Lens Always Wear Out Faster Than My Right?
I currently wear Toric contact lenses and have been for years. My prescriptions for both eyes are different but I have astigmatism in both. In the last year or so my left contact has started wearing out a lot faster than the right one. It will also have a hard tI ame staying on my cornea and it tends to not stay sharp. Anyone know what may be causing this?

Where Can I Find Avatar Prescription Contact Lens (yellow, Natural, and Low Cost if Possible)?
I’m going to be a Navi (from James Cameron’s Avatar movie) for Halloween. I want to have the right contacts for this, but have had a hard tI ame finding them with prescriptions. On some sites the contacts look great, but I can’t wear them due to the fact that they’re nonprescription. Without the prescription, I will obviously be blind. The closest I came to prescription lens was from 9mmsfx, but the lenses are unnatural (a harsh bold yellow), and they’re 0 for a pair. :\
After hours of searching, I’m still unsuccessful. So I would appreciate all the help. It doesn’t have to be officially “Avatar.” But as long as they’re yellow/gold AND natural looking AND prescription lens, I’m all for it. The cheaper the better!
Thanks!
-Danielle

Why Do I See Double Vision Whenever I Wear Contact Lens?
I have gone through like 10 brands of contacts and many prescriptions. My eye doc says its becuase when I go inside, my pupils get way too big and the contact is too small and doesnt cover up the vision perfectly. What do you guys think? I have literally tried everything, even hard contacts. They are the right prescription because I can see good, just when I go inside everything goes double…

Are There Contact Lens Prescriptions That Are Not Available Because So Few Have Them?
My friend has had Myopia (Near Sighted) since she was a kid. She has worn contacts most of her life and now that she’s getting older she’s losing some of her near sight as well.
Anyway she has gone to 3 different optometrist’s who all say they don’t make the prescription that she needs. The better they make the distance the worse the close gets and vice versa. She pretty much resigned herself to not being able to see clearly.
I don’t know jack about Optometry but find it hard to believe that with close to 7 billion people on the planet that they dont make a her prescription. There must be others with that prescription and I find it hard to believe they’ve given up seeing clearly. I suspect they just don’t carry the prescription she needs because its not cost effective.
Are there prescriptions they just dont make????

Is This Expensive for an RGP Contact Lens?
I’ve been treated for Kerataconus for many years and the cost of one of my lenses has skyrocketed so I’m looking for possible alternatives.
I wear RGP (hard lenses) that can last for years. The lens for my worst eye costs 5 and my doctor has basically told me I have to buy them through his practice. He says he won’t even give prescriptions to his patients because they come back with problems from buying cheaper lenses. This and the fact he runs an upmarket practice makes me wonder if he’s not just trying to get even richer but he is an expert in the Kerataconus field and has always provided me great results so I probably should leave well enough alone. I just can’t help wondering if I could get a much cheaper lens.
If FMJ sees this, my condition has barely changed in the last 5 years but I am keen for an alternative to CL. I do have near perfect vision with CL, I am just sick of the irritations that come with them. Normal wear doesn’t bother me at all, it’s just the dust getting in while you’re driving sort of scenario that bugs me. I’ve discussed all the other possibilities with my doctor though and CL seems to still be the best option. Hopefully C3R will be the answer soon. As you say I think they are still in trial stages here.
So there’s more to it than just having the prescription and a big CL retailer is unlikely to be able to produce what i require? My lenses can last for years but I damaged one after only 8 months and am trying to avoid having to shell out 500 bucks for a new one but at least going through my optometrist i get 6 months warranty in case it doesn’t fit properly.

Did I Get the Correct Eye Glasses and Contact Lens Prescriptions?
6 months ago I went to a new eye doctor. I hadn’t been to the optometrist in 5 years. All I know from my old prescription was Right SPH: -1.25 and Left SPH: -1.75 and I have an astigmatism. I had no problems except at night things were a little blurrier and my glasses broke.
The new doctor "inherited" my file and after an examination (machine test and he checked them out) said my eyes had gotten better, but the astigmatism worsened. He said that my new vision was Right) SPH: -1.00; CYL: -0.75; AXIS: 174 and Left) SPH: -1.25, CYL: -0.75; AXIS: 14. However he wrote me a lower prescription. SPH was -0.75 (right) and -1.00 (left). He told me that my eyes would get worse if I had the stronger prescription. At first, it was slightly harder to see with these new glasses. But I think I’ve gotten used to them and my old glasses seem a little strong and I can definitely tell the difference in astigmatism correction.
Yesterday, I went in for a contact lens fitting and the pair he gave me to try out are weaker than my glasses. The prescription for the contact lens read a little differently than the glasses. Instead of "SPH" they say "D". The contact lens prescription is as follows Right) D; -0.50; CYL: -0.75; AXIS: 170 and Left) D: -0.75; CYL: -0.75; AXIS: 10. I told my doctor that it’s harder to see even though I can "read the letters on the wall". I want to make sure I’m getting the right prescriptions. I know I have a relatively low prescription. I’m a 28 year old male in good health with no history or medical issues.
Thanks in advance.
