What Causes Astigmatism to Occour in a 32 Year Old?

I had 20/20 vision when I was yonger, but recently noted a hard tI ame reading small print far away. I went the the eye doctor, and they say I have astigmatism in both eyes, worse in my right. All I have read indicates that you are born with this, and it may get worse with age. Is this normal for a 32 year old?

I have had an astigmatism since I was 19 and not before.
They say you already were pre-disposed to it but with the eye strain over the years it tends to surface with most people in early adulthood.

If you´ve spent years working at an office staring at a computer screen all day that could definitely have caused the astigmatism.
I have astigmatism in both eyes since I was a teenager, but I was told it was caused by steriods that I took for my asthma.
