What Happens if You Use Unopened, Expired Daily Contact Lenses?

I found a lot of daily contact lenses–unopened of course. I stopped wearing them because of allergies. Now they are a few years expired. If they are still in solution, what could happen if I use them?

If I were you I wouldn’t risk putting them in. Your eyes are such delicate and precious organs to do something which is actually (quite risky) would just be silly. Remember, these dates are placed for a purpose!

A few years expired also means that your prescription expired.
When you have a current prescription, you should buy new contact lenses. An inexpensive source would be eye care fashion online.

They’re fine. Good lord, people. They’re stored in a sterile solution. I quit wearing contacts after I quit working at a particular job because I didn’t have near the need for them. I still had quite a few boxes left (2 wk disposables that I’ve always stretched out to 6-8 wks with daily cleanings) that sat on a shelf for 4 yrs. I started wearing them again as my prescription has stayed the same with no problems whatsoever. It’s not like the material dry-rots like car tires sitting out in the sun lol
