Even if they’re not for vision correction, all contact lenses are by prescription. There are different types and your eyes need to be evaluated and the curvature measured. An optometrist can do an exam and give you that information. From there, you can buy they lenses from him or online.

if you’re in the U.S, the lenses are regulated by the FDA and you’ll need an exam and a valid written Rx from an optometrist

Whether you require any correction for vision or not, you will need to have your contact lenses fit by a qualified professional.
In the USA it is actually against the law for any stores to sell unapproved lenses or sell lenses without seeing a valid prescription. All contact lenses in the US are regulated by the FDA as medical devices! The fit needs to be monitored by a professional to ensure a proper fit and to make sure they work well for you. After the doctor finds lenses that fit you properly, they will write you a prescription for the particular lenses they fit you with, which is valid for one year. Usually they will have you come back in within a week or so for a check up to make sure they are still working well for you…. When wearing contact lenses it is important that you maintain annual checkups for your eye health. Wearing contact lenses not fit by a professional can actually cause harm to your eyes…. so even for some reason you can get away without a fitting….it is not worth it… doing so could cause serious harm to your eyes.
Contact lenses are completely safe as long as you go through a professional and you wear them and take care of them as recommended by your eye doctor :)
