Why Is My Glasses Prescription Stronger Than My Contact Lens Prescription?

ok, so my glasses are -1 in both eyes and my contact lens is -.75 in both eyes. i got my glasses at the end of the school year from vision works. Now i decided to get contacts to wear vision correction full tI ame and i found out my contacts are less than my glasses. Why would my contacts not be as strong?

To answer your question simply? It’s because the contact lenses are physically on your eyes. So your prescription doesn’t need to be as strong as specs which sit on your nose and are a little distance away from your eyes.

It’s because of the affect from the location of the eyeglass lens being about an inch further from the eye than the contact lens. Because the image from a minus lens on the eye is larger than from a minus lens an inch away from the eye you don’t need as strong a lens to see the larger contact lens image.
